When Hitler was 18, he moved to Vienna to pursue a career in art. He used the money that he inherited from his fathers death in 1903. However both the "Vienna Academy of Art" and the "School for Architecture" rejected him. After his rejection, he became undoubtedly interested in politics. During World War I, he even volunteered to fight for the German Army and earned a position as corporal. He won many awards for his bravery. This included the Iron Cross First Class.
After the war, Adolf's future was filled with tears and uncertainty. Hitler attended meetings of the "German Workers Party." They were an anti-Semitic, national group whom acted as a spy for the German Army. Adolf contradicted anti-Semitism and nationalism with a speech. This helped him steady his occupation as a public speaker through the injustices that Germany faced as a result of the Treaty of Versailles. Large amounts of people began joining the party just to watch Hitler make his speeches. By 1921, he rose to the Nationalist Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party.) In 1923, the Nazi Party had 56,000 members and many more supporters. On November 8th and 9th, Adolf staged "The Nazi Beer Hall Putsch." He wished to force the Bavarian government to work with the Nazis and to march together on Berlin. The attempt was a failure. Hitler was tried for treason, the judge gave him a very light sentence. While Adolf was in jail, he wrote "Mein Kampf, where he outlines his political philosophy and future plans for Germany." There would later be two volumes of Mein Kampf. In 1929, Adolf met Eva Braun, his to be lover, through a mutual friend and photographer. Eva's father disliked Hitler as a person as well as his political beliefs. Later on in 1932, Eva was not happy and tried to commit suicide in which Hitler responded to by buying her a villa and provided her luxuries. In 1935 she tried again. |

Many were unaware of Hitlers mistress. On April 29th Adolf and Eva were officially married and committed suicide right after. Hitler had made an order to have their bodies buried together in Reich Chancellery Garden.
"By 1930 the Nazi Party were polling about 6.5 million votes." <Adolf Hitler, AETN, 2012> Adolf ran in the presidential election of 1932, but came in second. On January 30, 1933 President Hindenburg was forced to appoint him as Chancellor due to his popular demand. With this new power, Hitler began appointing Nazis to office and gained control to emergency powers. Heidenburg died in 1934. This sealed Hitlers power for good. Germany then began with a conciliation program in which Adolf used propaganda and tooling enemies to prepare the German people for war. In 1936, Hitler invaded Rhineland then continued to annex Austria and some parts of Czechoslovakia. In 1939, Adolf made a alliance with Russia, "The Molotov Ribbentrop Pact," and Italy, "The Pact of Steel." Hitler invaded Poland on September 1st 1939 and thus began World War II. After conquering much of Western Europe, the Fuhrer then turned his sight to the East. In 1941, Germany made one of its greatest mistakes, they invaded Russia. The German army later found themselves surrounded in a Russian winter without adequate amounts of supplies. They began their long retreat in 1943. Western allies began pushing hard and were advancing on Germany. Hitler responded by withdrawing almost entirely. In 1944, there was an unsuccessful assassination attempt on Adolf. Hitler then "stepped up the atmosphere of suspicion and terror." <Adolf Hitler AETN, 2012> On April 30th, Hitler commits suicide with his newly wedded wife Eva Braun. Germany's surrender followed almost immediately after. |
